25/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 24 March, the European Commission authorised aid of €40.6 million which the German authorities intend to grant to Hamburger Spremberg, belonging to the Austrian Prinzhorn Holding, for the construction of a paper mill in Spremberg, Brandenburg Südwest region. After assessment, the Commission found the measure to be compatible with the requirements of regional aid guidelines for 2007-2013. The Commission therefore considers that the project, involving total investments of €250 million by Hamburger, will significantly contribute to the development of the region's economy without unduly distorting competition.
