Brussels, 20/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - Czech Justice Minister Jiri Pospisil announced at a ministerial conference on e-justice without barriers in Prague on 17 and 18 February 2009 that the European Union would be launching an online justice website before the end of the year for legal practitioners and ordinary citizens. E-justice will initially contain information on accredited experts and interpreters. Anyone with access to the internet will be able to access the site, and links to EU and member states' legal systems will be added in 2013, along with the trade, bankruptcy and land registers of all 27 member states. In the long-term, e-justice should allow national and EU legal services to be interconnected to enable international video conferences to be held. A pilot scheme is currently being tested in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, which will then be fine-tuned by experts. (B.C./transl.fl)
