Warning that Spanish legislation on EU pensioners' access to healthcare may break EU rules

Brussels, 20/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission takes the view that Spain discriminates against EU pensioners by refusing them access to free medication when they stay temporarily in Spain, and it therefore sent a reasoned opinion to Spain on Thursday 19 February 2009 for failing to comply with EU legislation on social security rights for people travelling in Europe The Spanish authorities now have two months to respond.
