22/01/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 20 January, the European Commission confirmed it had received a complaint from the information company IBM for abuse of dominant position. The American T3 company, which manufactures mainframe computers competing with those of IBM, maintains that, since October 2006, IBM has refused to sell licenses for its software to any user of a T3 computer. This, says T3, is abuse of dominant position on the part of IBM which hold almost the whole market of mainframe computers. The Commission received a similar complaint against IBM in 2007 field by Platform Solutions. The latter withdrew its complaint after it was bought up by IBM in July 2008 but the Commission has not, however, given up its investigation, a Commission spokesman explained to the press on Tuesday 20 January.
