Commission adopts 23 national programmes for management of external borders, returns and integration of foreigners

Brussels, 22/01/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 22 January, the European Commission announced adoption of 23 multiannual programmes for implementation of the European External Borders Fund 2007-2013, the European Return Fund 2008-2013 and the Fund for the Integration of third country nationals 2007-2013. Countries concerned by the External Borders Fund are: Poland (€78 million), Finland (€51 million), Portugal (€35 million), Lithuania (€32 million to which must be added the sum of €108 million for financing the special transit regime between the region of Kaliningrad and the rest of the Russian Federation through EU territory), the Czech Republic (€21 million) and Sweden €15 million. Countries concerned by the European Fund for the Integration of Third-country nationals are: United Kingdom (€129.49 million), Italy (€96 million), the Netherlands (€17.7 million), Poland (€15.8 million), Sweden (€13.4 million), Hungary (€13 million), Latvia (€11.2 million), Estonia (€7.9 million), Bulgaria (€3.7 million), Malta (€3.7 million) and Estonia (€3 million). Finally, part of European Return Fund will go to: United Kingdom (€95 million), Italy (€71 million), Poland (€17 million), Slovenia (€8 million), Finland (€6 million), and Latvia (€3 million).
