22/01/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 21 January 2009, the European Commission authorised the proposed joint venture between Mauser Holding International (Germany) and Reyde (Spain) with a view to the production and sale of intermediate bulk containers (IBCs). Also, Mauser is to sell the assets of its plastic drums' business in the South of France to Reyde. After examination, the Commission concluded overlapping of activity was limited and that the sector was characterised by significant overcapacity and low entry barriers. Also clients on the list that Mauser plans to pass on to Reyde will remain free to chose the latter, or not, as their supplier. The Commission therefore sees no obstacle to the proposed joint venture in terms of free competition. (C.D./transl.jl)
