22/12/2008 (Agence Europe) - On 19 December, the EU Council of Ministers adopted, without debate, codified versions of two directives establishing minimum standards of protection for calves and pigs. Directives 91/629/EEC (calves) and 91/630/EEC (pigs) had been amended several times and quite substantially. They were, therefore, codified in the interests of clarity and rationality.
