10/11/2008 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner for the Internal Market Charlie McCreevy last week welcomed the results of the first meeting of the group of experts set up in mid-October to make decisions, by the end of 2008, on solutions to remedy problems in the credit derivatives market (see EUROPE 9764). This group, which is made up of representatives of industry and the regulation authorities, has decided to look into the standards applicable to a possible platform for the regulation of credit derivatives, the types of derivatives in question, information to be provided to the supervisory authorities and coherence between the work being carried out in Europe and in the United States. The European Commission's objective is to put together a roadmap, before the end of the year, on creating a regulatory platform for credit derivatives. (M.B./trans.fl)
