Commission wants to ensure identical charges for domestic and international direct debits

Brussels, 15/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 15 October 2008, the European Commission unveiled a draft regulation to amend the EU cross-border payment rules. It is suggesting that cross-border direct debit payments should cost the same as domestic direct debits. Cross border direct debits will be possible from November 2009 onwards. The draft legislation repealing EU Regulation 2560/2001(EC) brings the cross-border payment rules into line with EU Directive 2007/64/EC on payment...
