Brussels, 14/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - On 13 October 2008, the European Commission cleared the acquisition of Germany's Megapharm GmbH Pharmazeutische Erzeugnisse of Germany, cancer treatment products wholesaler, by the UK's Alliance Boots Holdings Ltd, a wholesale pharma market specialist and healthcare and beauty products retailer. A separate buyout was also authorised by the Commission, namely the acquisition of joint control of Hungarian companies TopTorony Ingatlanhasznosító Zrt. and Shaza Ingatlanhasznosító Zrt. These companies are only active in the rental for commercial use of premises in Bank Center, an office building in Budapest. Both deals were examined using the simplified merger review procedure.
