Brussels, 14/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) will publish its new study on patient access and the training of oncology specialists (MOSES III) on Wednesday 15 October. This study will show, inter alia, that: - when patients need a second opinion in another EU country, they are reimbursed in the Netherlands and Denmark, but not in Hungary or Luxembourg; - continuous training of oncologists exists in France and Ireland, but not in Spain or Hungary; - care by a multi-disciplinary team works better in Belgium and the Czech Republic than in Sweden or Poland; - barely four out of five countries include palliative care in their medical courses. 1.7 million people die from cancer every year in Europe.
