Brussels, 08/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament development committee, chaired by Josep Borrell (PES, Spain) confirmed on 7 October, its support for releasing €1bn from resources not used in the common agricultural policy. This will be used to immediately support farming in developing countries and subsequently help them to tackle the food crisis, as proposed by the European Commission.
