02/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - Hungary and Lithuania have signed agreements with the United States with a view to allowing their nationals to enter American territory without a visa by the end of the year. On Wednesday 1 October, Hungary signed an agreement with the United States on the exchange of data intended to combat organised crime. On Monday 29 September, Lithuania signed an agreement on the exchange of data regarding persons found guilty of or suspected of terrorism. On 26 September, another agreement had been initialled between the two countries on mutual access to fingerprint and DNA databases of persons suspected of terrorism. The Slovakian president, Ivan Gasparovic, will go to the United States next week to sign a similar agreement with Washington. Latvia and Estonia have already concluded similar agreements with the USA (EUROPE 9752). (B.C./transl.jl)
