02/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 2 October, the European Commission launched a new call for evidence of economic consequences of biodiversity loss. The evidence will help to establish the 2nd phase of a study entitled: “The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity - TEEB”. The first phase of the TEEB study sketched out a framework likely to allow the economic consequences of biodiversity loss to be measured. The second phase will develop and implement that framework and also produce tools for assessment that may be used by political decision-makers. The final TEEB report will be presented to the conference of parties to the convention on biological diversity to be held in Nagoya (Japan) in October 2010.
