Brussels, 29/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 29 September, EU fisheries ministers adopted, without debate, the regulation putting in place a Community system to prevent, discourage and eradicate illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. Fisheries ministers reached unanimous agreement on this text on 24 June of this year. It will come into force on 1 January 2010 (see EUROPE 9689).
