22/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has said that it believes that the changes brought to Slovakian law are compatible with Community competition law. The Commission sent a letter of formal notice to Bratislava on 18 June, following concerns about the consequences of current measures on market access for “hybrid mail” service providers. These companies receive their clients' mail by email, then print, stamp and send out the printed version. The Commission's fears were allayed by the written responses from the Slovak authorities to Competition commissioner Neelie Kroes, her spokesman Jonathan Todd told press in Brussels on 17 July. He said, however, that “we will continue to monitor the situation closely and the legal procedure remains open”. (C.D./transl.rt)
