European Parliament supports NATO in Afghanistan and reaffirms EU's long term commitment

Strasbourg, 08/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - By adopting a resolution on stabilisation in Afghanistan, contained in a report prepared by André Brie from the PDS in Germany (423 votes in favour, 74 against, with 43 abstentions), the European Parliament gave its support on Tuesday 8 July in Strasbourg to efforts made by the European Union, NATO and the international community in Afghanistan.
