Commission not to re-open anchovy fishery

Brussels, 01/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 30 June, the European Commission announced that, in the light of the most recent scientific opinion, it intended to keep the anchovy fishery in the Bay of Biscay closed at least until the end of 2008. In December 2007, European fisheries ministers decided not to open the fishery until at least June 2008, authorising the Commission to review the situation in the light of scientific information.
