26/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - The Council of Europe and the EU Fundamental Rights Agency signed a cooperation agreement on 18 June designed to foster the complementarities between their actions and avoid pointless overlap of activities in the area of protecting human rights in Europe. This agreement is an important step towards the adoption of a European system for the protection of fundamental rights based on common standards. (B.C./transl.fl)
