Commission remains firm on bluefin tuna fishing ban

Brussels, 18/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - To the displeasure of the French, Italian and Spanish authorities, the European Commission has refused to go back on closing off bluefin tuna fishing (EUROPE 9684). Contrary to what sector professionals affirm, the Commission says it has in its possession all the data “needed to establish that the EU purse seine fleet has now exhausted its quota”.
