09/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 15 July in Brussels, the European Commission is to hold a public hearing on retail financial products. Various workshops will be held, on the development of the retail financial products markets and the rules on the publication of information and distribution at the point of sale aiming to guarantee the protection of the consumer. Amongst those attending will be Commissioner McCreevy, who has responsibility for the internal market, Othmar Karas (EPP-ED, Austria, rapporteur of the EP on the Green Paper of the Commission on retail financial services (see EUROPE 9676), and representatives of the industry and the European regulators' committees (CERVM, CEBS, CEIOPS).
