Commission calls on France to target structural reform and reduce its budget deficit

Brussels, 28/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 28 May 2008, the European Commission sent France policy advice requesting that it pursue structural reforms and cut its budget deficit. The use of 'policy advice' under the Revised Stability and Growth Pact had been expected (see EUROPE 9660). France reacted in a predictable manner.
