Court rejects appeal against Commission method for calculating fines on cartels

Brussels, 22/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Court of Justice (ECJ) confirmed the legality of the proceedings by the Commission for assessing the level of sanctions against cartels. The 22 May decision points out that the Commission methods do not deprive companies affected, of their legal certainty. The German company Degussa SA went to the ECJ to appeal the fines imposed on it in 2002 for participating in an animal feed cartel. Degussa claimed that under Article 15.2 of Regulation...
