Brussels, 08/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - If the Council wants to draw up a list of countries of origin considered to be “safe” for the purposes of dealing with requests for asylum, it cannot merely consult Parliament, the Court ruled on 6 May. Given the powers conferred each of the institutions by the EC Treaty, for such a list to be drawn up the co-decision procedure has to be followed (case C-133/06).
