07/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - Youth mobility was at the centre of discussions in the meeting of the Council of members (COMEM) of the European Youth Forum (YFJ) in Barcelona on 2-3 May. Of the 191 million migrant workers worldwide, 63 million are aged between 15 and 25, and the percentage of young people migrating to Europe in increasing, says YFJ, and it believes that youth organisations can help integrate young migrants into society “by changing the perceptions of migration in both home and host countries, promoting tolerance, understanding and respect for diversity and advocating for their rights and education”. Besides a policy paper on migration, YFJ also adopted five other policy documents to represent the interests of European youth with regard to the EU institutions, the Council of Europe and the United Nations.
