Brussels, 07/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - EU Ambassadors meeting in the Coreper on Wednesday 7 May, failed to find agreement on the compromise text on the Returns Directive drawn up last month at an informal trilogue. On 23 April, the three institutions laid the foundations for an agreement to harmonise rules for detaining and deporting illegal immigrants (see EUROPE 9652). (B.C.)
