Brussels, 26/02/2008 (Agence Europe) - Under the terms of a Court of Justice judgment published on Tuesday 26 February, only cheeses bearing the protected designation of origin (PDO) “Parmigiano Reggiano” can be sold under the name “Parmesan”. In this case (C-132/05), then, the Court has found for the producers of Parmigiano Reggiano, who are delighted with their victory since it will mean an end to imitations and the improper use of the term “Parmesan”.
