Brussels, 26/02/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 26 February, the European Commission said that the rise in retail prices in supermarkets is not necessarily linked to a rise in the price of agricultural products. In other words, the large retail sector is said to play a role in this surge in prices of foodstuffs in the EU. We would point out that the European Parliament has called on the European Commission to investigate abuse of dominant position by supermarkets (EUROPE 9605).
