Brussels, 06/02/2008 (Agence Europe) - In a joint declaration adopted on Tuesday 5 February in Sarajevo, the EP delegation for relations with South East European countries and the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia-Herzegovina welcomed December's initialling of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA). The two delegations (which participated in their 10th inter-parliamentary meeting) are hoping that this important stage will mark the beginning of a new political era that leads to the signing of the SAA as soon as possible.
However, the signing remains subject to the implementation of police reforms. Once the SAA is signed, constitutional reform will remain the most important field in which to build. The two delegations welcomed the entry into force on 1 January 2008 of the agreement between the EU and Bosnia-Herzegovina of the agreement on the facilitation of visas and readmission. (L.C.)
