Brussels, 18/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - The Veneto region, in partnership with the Brussels delegation of Confindustria, the “Fondazione Cassa di Resparmio di Padova e Rovigo”, the Union of the Chambers of Commerce of the Veneto Region and the University of Padua have developed a new project: The European Observatory on State Aid. The main objectives of the organisation are: 1) to improve awareness in the Union regarding EU rules on State Aid involving both private and public operators; 2) to become a tool for Policy makers in planning and implementing strategies for regional economic development; 3) to liaise with the European institutions regarding compliance with rules on State Aid.
This new project now has a European dimension: the Region of Carinthia, the County of Brasov, Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region and the Valencia Region have expressed their interest in deepening this very important issue together by exchanging and thinking out common proposals on State Aid. This observatory was officially presented during a seminar organised by the Veneto Region on 26 November in Brussels on the theme of “State Aid Reform and Awareness in the Territory: a challenge to meet how ?” (sic).
