10/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - By adopting the conclusions on human rights and democratisation in third countries on Monday 10 December, the Council has reaffirmed the importance of these two factors in the EU's external action. It expresses its support for the principles of universality, inter-dependence and indivisibility of human rights, and remains determined to play an active role at the UN Council of Human Rights, as well as ensuring the latter meets the expectations placed on it. It also asks for the full cooperation of all member states participating in this body, particularly within the framework of the special procedures and universal periodic examination mechanism. (A.B.)
