Brussels, 04/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - The signing of the ratification instrument for the Kyoto Protocol by the new Australian prime minister, Kevin Rudd, has given comfort to government experts from the 190 countries meeting in Bali (Indonesia) since 3 December to prepare, under UN leadership, negotiations for the international treaty, which is expected to succeed the Kyoto Protocol when it expires in 2012.
