29/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - Following the complaint submitted by several private bus operators, the Commission will investigate whether the annual operating compensation payments for school transport, for the purchase of rolling stock and the operation of a passenger information system for the benefit of Emsländische Eisenbahn GmbH in Germany are in line with EU state aid rules. In particular, the investigation will focus on the question of whether Emsländische Eisenbahn GmbH has been entrusted with public service obligations, and whether it has been overcompensated for discharging these obligations.
