Commission will make new proposals in 2008 for toughening up civilian security in Europe

Brussels, 22/11/2007 (Agence Europe) -European Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas announced on Thursday 22 November that he intended to come up with new proposals in 2008 to bolster European civilian security response capacity. During a press conference before the opening of the second forum on civilian security in Brussels, Dimas stated: “I personally believe that complementary capacities at Community level could help the EU to respond even better” during crises.
