09/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 5 November, European Commissioner for Immigration, Franco Frattini signed the “Declaration of Milan”, which was proposed jointly by the mayors of several large European cities and the organisation Eurocities. The declaration was signed at the opening of the second conference entitled “Integrating Cities”, which was launched in Rotterdam in October 2006, and aims to establish dialogue and cooperation between the local, national and European levels with a view to improving the integration of immigrants. “The voice of the cities is important, decisive, to make a common agenda for integration a reality and to reinforce their commitment in defining integration policies”, said Mr Frattini in a press release.
