03/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has just published the fifth financial report of the ECSC in liquidation, as approved by the College of Commissioners through the written procedure. The report considers the financial activities of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) from 1 January to 30 December 2006. It summarises the effect of the expiry of the ECSC Treaty on 23 July 2002, and the measures relative to the financial consequences of the expiry and the Research Fund for Coal and Steel, and also says how the estate was managed in 2006. €53.438 million will be transferred to the general budget of the EU as the 2008 allocation for funding the Research Fund for Coal and Steel, in line with Council decision 2003/76/EC of 1 February 2003.
