Brussels, 29/08/2007 (Agence Europe) - The President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, wrote to his European Parliament counterpart Hans-Gert Pöttering on Tuesday, further to press revelations claiming that the Portuguese Social Democratic Party (PSD), of which he was a leader in 2001, allegedly broke the law on party funding. Mr Barroso explained that this was a strictly national affair which dates back to a time before the current Commission was in place.
