According to Dutch study, China overtook the USA in 2006 as the world's C02 emissions number one

Brussels, 20/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (MNP) has affirmed that in 2006 China took over from the USA as the world's reputedly biggest producer of C02 emissions. According to estimates published on 18 June, the MNP estimated that in 2006, C02 emissions from China were 8% higher than those from the USA, which means that “China tops the list of C02 emitting countries for the first time”.
