07/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - In a press release published on Wednesday 6 June, the European Medicines Agency announced that it had been informed during the evening of 5 June, by the Roche laboratory in Switzerland that certain batches of anti-retroviral Viracept (Nelfinavir) used in the treatment of HIV infections, had been contaminated and that the laboratory had recalled all of these batches from medical use. In a separate press release, Roche indicated that the detailed analysis of tablets were emitting a strange smell and showed that they contained above normal levels of ether methanesfonate. The European Medicines Agency has called on all patients who may be concerned to contact their doctor. (oj)
