US company Ashmore Energy International (AEI) has announced the acquisition of an indirect 86.41% stake in Distribuidora de Electricidad Del Sur, S.A. (DelSur), a subsidiary of PPL Corporation for $180 million. DelSur has nearly 291,000 customers in southern and central areas of El Salvador and runs a distribution network of more than 6000 km. It sold nearly 1100 GWh of electricity in 2006.
