01/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - As part of its first “literary summer”, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is holding a series of four lunchtime meetings. Well-known European authors will use collective stories, in addition to their own individual works, to document the evolution and customs of our culture of remembrance. The meetings will be as follows: - on 7 June, Thomas Glavinic, Die Arbeit der Nacht (The work of the night), in German; - on 14 June, Lajos Parti Nagy, Hõsöm tere (My Hero's Square), in Hungarian; - on 21 June, Kirsten Thorup, Førkrigstid (Before the war), in Danish; and on 28 June, Bernardine Evaristo, Soul Tourists, in English. The authors will read excerpts from their text in the original language. Translations in French and English will be made available.
