France must state its position, says Martin Schulz

Strasbourg, 22/05/2007 (Agence Europe) - Martin Schulz, who leads the EP Socialist Group, expects the new French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, to clearly state his ambitions with regard to Turkey. “I am not sure that Mr Sarkozy really wants to block membership talks with Turkey”, Mr Schulz told the press on Tuesday. “That was part of the talk accompanying the electoral campaign and I do not believe the French Republic is really able to block talks with Turkey”, he went on to say,...
