Brussels, 10/04/2007 (Agence Europe) - “On the offensive for a more social Europe of solidarity and sustainable development”: the main theme of the 11th Statutory Congress of the European Confederation to be held in Seville (Spain) on 21 - 24 May 2007. As well as the main European union leaders, such as Secretaries General John Monks (ETUC) and Guy Ryder (ICFTU), congress participants will include figures such as Spanish prime minister José Luis Zapatero, the German vice chancellor and minister for social affairs Franz Münterfering, the president of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso and Commissioners Vladimir Spidla (Social Affairs) and Margot Wallström (Institutional Relations), as well as the President of the European Central Bank (ECB) Jean-Claude Trichet and the President of Businesseurope Ernest-Antoine Seillière.
for this occasion, ETUC has launched a new internet site devoted to this 11th Statutory Congress; http: //sevilla.etuc.org.en. This site will be active primarily during the congress. It will publish the speeches, press releases, summaries of debates, photos and videos, and host a live audiovisual broadcast from the congress venue. It has been online since the start of March 2007 and gives the provisional congress programme. It also has a special section for the media on http: //sevilla.etuc.org/-Press-room.
