Commission to propose Helmet Kohl

Brussels, 26/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - The president of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, announced that on behalf of the Commission, he was going to propose former German Chancellor, Helmet Kohl, for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. During a press conference concluding Sunday's informal meeting of Heads of State and governments in Berlin, Mr Barroso said, “Helmet Kohl deserves the peace prize for his great contribution to German and European reunification”.
