19/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 12 March, the Commission published the assessment report on the Single European Sky/SES in relation to air traffic control in Europe. The document, developed at the Commission's request by Eurocontrol, will serve as a basis for the preparation of the report on this system to be submitted to Parliament and Council at the end of the year. In addition to the positive impact of SES, mainly when it comes to cooperation between member states and navigation systems providers, the assessment shows that member states are still not familiar with the tools provided by SES, which does not augur well for significant progress in making the programme successful. The report also shows there is divergence in application of safety rules in Europe. The full text may be consulted on: http: //http://www.eurocontrol.int/prc/public/subsite_homepage/homepage.html aby)
