Brussels, 19/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - In January 2007, seasonally corrected industrial production fell 0.2% in the eurozone on December 2006, when it rose 1.2% following a 0.3% fall in November. In the EU27, industrial production fell 0.3% in January 2007, following a rise of 1.0% in December and a rise of 0.3% in November. Over a year, industrial production rose 3.7% in the eurozone and 3.5% in the EU27. Compared with December 2006, industrial production rose in seven member states, fell in twelve and remained unchanged in Greece and the UK. The biggest increases were recorded in Ireland (+6.8%), Lithuania (+5.9%), Luxembourg (+3.7%) and Slovakia (+2.9%), with the greatest falls recorded in the Netherlands (-4.3%), Finland (-3.5%), Romania (-3.2%) and Latvia (-2.5%). Compared with January 2006, industrial production rose in seventeen member states and fell in four, the Netherlands (-3.6%), Finland (-3.2%), the United Kingdom (-0.5%) and France (-0.2%). (ab)
