28/02/2007 (Agence Europe) - A delegation from the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) led by General Secretary John Monks and President of the DGB Michael Sommer met German Chancellor and President of the European Council Angela Merkel on 27 February in Berlin. The trade union representatives presented her with the “Trade Union Memorandum to the German presidency of the European Union” which details ETUC's key priorities for the six months of the presidency: resolving the impasse of the Constitutional Treaty, and including the Charter of Fundamental Rights into it, a joint European energy policy, development towards a European labour market which guarantees equal opportunities for mobile workers, measures to combat climate change, etc. (see EUROPE 9358 for details, and/or http://www.etuc.org ).
