15/02/2007 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has set up an interactive internet site giving information, and allowing questions to be asked, on directive 2004/39/EC on financial instruments markets - better known as “MiFID” from the name of the directive - and on two implementing measures: directive 2006/73/EC and regulation 1287/2006 (see EUROPE 9214). In a press release, the Commission says that, where appropriate, it will consult member states and regulators before formulating answers to questions. Questions can be submitted in any official EU language but answers will be published in English only. The target will be to answer all questions within three months. If the website is successful, the Commission will consider applying the same approach to other single market directives.
