Friday's Council to adopt its contribution to Spring European Summit

Brussels, 15/02/2007 (Agence Europe) - The Education, Youth and Culture Council to be held this Friday in Brussels is expected to adopt a series of “key messages” on education and training, on one hand, and on youth policy, on the other. These messages will make up its contribution to the Spring European Council. On the subject of education and training, the EU27 will hold an exchange of views on the following questions: - How do ministers see the role of the Education and Training 2010 programme compared to the Lisbon process? How can the impact of the 2010 work programme be amplified at the EU level and that of member states? What are the main challenges and new issues that should be tackled for the post 2010 period? Ministers will also hold an exchange of views on youth policy, and in particular on “sustainable” measures that could be set in place to promote exchange between member states, including at the local level, in order to pursue implementation of the European Youth Pact.
