Brussels, 24/01/2007 (Agence Europe) - The ALDE group (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) in the European Parliament is holding a public hearing on “EU Legislation on CO2 Emissions and Cars” in Brussels on 31 January. The hearing is the initiative of MEPs Chris Davies and Antonyia Parvanova, both members of the Parliament's environment committee. It will allow representatives of consumers, European car manufacturers (ACEA) the Federation for Transport and Environment, the European Commission (DG Environment) and experts form the German Environment Agency and the Agency for the Protection of the Environment of California to debate the issue. With the review of the European strategy for reducing CO2 emissions from private cars expected shortly, the organisers feel that is an appropriate time to extend the debate to the lessons to be learned from legislation adopted by the State of California.
